A recent update to the Adobe Reader Plug-In (10.1.2) for Internet Explorer has introduced an issue where Realist PDF reports appear with no data. This impacts all Adobe customers using Internet Explorer and is not isolated to Realist. We have been actively working with Adobe on the resolution below that solves this issue.

Issue

When you open a PDF in a browser from a secure site (i.e., over a HTTPS connection), a grey, blank page appears rather than the PDF file.

Solution - Install patch

  1. Log in to your computer as an Administrator.
  2. Close Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat if it is running.
  3. Click this link to download the patch: AdobeAcrobatReaderPatch10.1.2_cpsid_93026.zip
  4. Unzip the file to extract the executable AdobeAcrobatReaderPatch10.1.2_cpsid_93026.exe.
  5. Do one of the following to run the AdobeAcrobatReaderPatch10.1.2_cpsid_93026.exe file:
    • Double-click the AdobeAcrobatReaderPatch10.1.2_cpsid_93026.exe file.
    • Run the AdobeAcrobatReaderPatch10.1.2_cpsid_93026.exe file in silent mode by specifying the -silent flag on the command line. Open the command prompt ‘As Administrator’ to avoid UAC prompt dialog. For example:
      <path to AdobeAcrobatReaderPatch10.1.2.cpsid_92026.exe> -silent
  6. When the update is complete, restart your computer. You can choose to restart later, but you must restart to ensure that the fix is applied correctly.

    Note
: When run in silent mode, all dialog boxes are suppressed. No success message or error message appears. The patch adds a log file to the temp directory (%temp%) with the name AcroPatchApplication1012.log.

Realist will be performing a maintenance release Sunday night that should have minimal impact to customers. The only change you will experience is that you will have to download a new SWF file when you launch the Realist application, which occurs automatically.
